Week 37

  Week 37 Mar 23-29 2026 Monday We left Savannah GA this morning and cruised 25 nautical miles to Hilton Head Island. We took a little detour and left the ICW and went out into the North Atlantic ocean so everyone could get a feel for the ocean swells. It was pretty and not very rough and we saw lots of dolphins. It was gentle today and a really nice ride. We saw several pods of dolphins but none came to play with us. That was disappointing. Upon arrival at Harbour town yacht basin the wind kicked up and it took two tries to do stern in docking. After docking, at Hilton head south Carolina, we went to the boardwalk for lunch and to visit the light house. We climbed the 144 steps to the top. There was a small beach here by the marina. Alaina has been waiting to go to the beach!! Ed stayed on the boat, he hates sand. The rest of us spent a couple of hours at the beach. Week 36 Mar 16-22 2026 Monday We spent the morning on the boat. We went walking to investigate this cute town of Brunswick Georgia. General Oglthorpe founded Georgia in the early 1700s. He wanted a place for people to have their freedom of religion and basically freedom. He didn't believe in slavery. He was sent here by the crown to be a barrier from Spain. He had strict moral standards and the people rebelled against his strictness. He eventually left Brunswick never to return, because the people still wanted slavery.  We had planned to do more outside boat chores but another huge storm came in. It rained most of the night, hard. We had a lot of lightening this afternoon. Ed fixed the stern thruster battery.  The gusts were over 30 mph. It's why we decided to stay another day. We knew the wind was going to be bad today. During a short window of hardly any rain, Ed was able to swap out the batteries for our stern thruster. We're happy to have that working again!
